Shopping time!

Spring Racing Carnival has started… you can see most of the shops selling elegant dresses, sexy high heels, and fancy fascinators! To be honest, last year I has just arrived in Melbourne and I saw those ladies were wearing gorgeous dresses and men were wearing suits and they were all catching the train to somewhere. I was curious about what were they doing wearing dresses in the middle of the day.

Well, now I totally understand what the hell was going on. Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival is the horse racing series held annually during October and November (spring). For more information, please click here. There are a few famous races such as Caulfield Cup, Melbourne Cup (the biggest one), Oaks Day, Derby Day and Emirates Stakes Day.

As my current company is the Australia’s premier racing company, I got the chance to know more about the racing! I think a month ago, my GM offered me a ticket to Emirates Stakes Day with my manager. I was so happy when I got this news (actually I was shock as she called me into the meeting room and I thought I’ve done something wrong! Ha!)

Of course I was desperate to join this event as I can dress up and put on the fascinator! (*_*) So, I did some shopping last weekend and I bought 3 main things that I needed which are fascinator, dress and heels!

Sale!!! Only 30% though...

Too many!!! Not sure which one to choose? =D

After getting weary of looking / trying around, I needed to take a rest for some food! Haha… so me and hubby went to this Japanese café for Bento. We’ve been there a few times as the food is yummy and the price is reasonable too!

Happy to say that, I managed to get my heels and fascinator after a long search! So now let me pamper myself with some yummylicious sushi which is my favourite “Inari”.

However I still had one more thing to buy which was the dress! After our meal, dress hunting continued… and I found this “East of India” just besides my apartment. Their dresses look simple yet beautiful (I was looking for something simple and the dresses here just met my requirement!) They were quite pricey but who cares :P as long as it looks good and you know ladies will always buy things that they think is worthwhile! Agree? = )

So yeah, I was satisfied with my day as I got what I wanted! I am now looking forward to the Emirates Stakes Day which is held on 7 Nov (next Saturday). ^_^

... received some freebies from Quiksilver on our way back from lunch! What a lucky day! (";)

Happy Hour 2

Another outing with August and Kee last night. I recommended them to have Thai food as I went past this street and found the environment of this Thai restaurant looks pretty good. The food did not disappoint us. They were delicious! = )

The environment was dim and comfortable.
We chose the dining room on the first floor because there were too many people downstairs and it was noisy.

A photo snapped from upstairs.

"say cheese"... while waiting for the food!

The waitress was very friendly and she recommended Ice Milk Tea for our drinks.

For our entrée we had a Mixed Entrée which included spring rolls, fish cake, chicken satay and pastry. The chicken satay was absolutely delicious. I loved it the most and it was perfect to dip with peanut sauce!
Below are our mains…

Stir fry vegetables

Tom Yam Soup

Green Curry Chicken

Stir fry calamari

Pad Thai
Well, everything was good except the Pad Thai. I think they put in some herbs which was smelly. Overall the food was not bad.
As for the desserts, we ordered Black Sticky Rice served with Coconut Ice-cream, Sweet Roti Roll served with Coconut Ice-cream and Coconut Ice-cream. The coconut ice-cream was soft and smooth, not too sweet but full of flavour. *yum yum* (“ ;)

Sydney - Day 3

Last day at Sydney! We had our brunch at Asagao which is a Japanese restaurant. They had sushi train in the restaurant and display variety of sushi. I was so excited! (not that I never see sushi train back in Melbourne just that I was starving and the sushi looked so tempting to me) We were in the mood for sushi, so we decided to eat more sushi and only ordered 1 bento to share.

Green Tea

Here are our sushi!!!

Miso soup

Hmmm… the sushi were fresh and delicious! This is the "crispy fish" (I named it myself as I cannot remember what is the name) bento set that we ordered, it came with miso soup. Well, we had an enjoyable brunch overall.

We were shopping around in the city. Some photos to share with you guys here…

Queen Victoria Building (QVB) – described by Pierre Cardin as “the most beautiful shopping centre in the world”.

I like this LV bag!!! I HOPE this will be my Christmas present! (HUGE HINT here, hubby you got it??? Hehehe) I am so looking for Christmas now… :P

Next up, The Rock situated in Sydney city centre on the western side of Circular Quay, and was the area of the first European settlement in 1788. For more information, please click here.

I just simply like this public phone!

We were going to Manly by taking ferry at Circular Quay.

It’s a cab, isn’t it cute?
We were going to take this ferry to Manly!

This ice cream store caught my attention. OMG, can you see they had variety of sorbets and they all look so tempting! Hubby bough me a cup of sorbet with flavour Mango & Berries. Oh yeah, they were really yummylicious!!! = )

Oh ya, I didn’t really mention about Sydney Opera House on my day 1. Okay, Sydney Opera House was created by a young architect who understood and recognized the potential provided by the site against the stunning backdrop of Sydney Harbour. It is a masterpiece of late modern architecture. It is admired internationally and proudly treasured by the people of Australia. Actually we went they a few times to snap some photos. So yeah, we went there again after we came back from Manly. By the way, this is our last stop as well. We will take off in 4 hours time (need to check in 2 hours before) so yeah - our last stop at Sydney. Good bye, Sydney!

After check-in in the airport, we were looking for food as we were starving. We only had a meal (some sushi) today and now our tummies were yelling!!! There were not much choice of food available in the airport food court.

Fast food? I don’t feel like having it. Noodle? Nope. Sandwiches? No No. Pizza? No No No

At last, I chose Salad!!! My favourite – Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad.

I was very satisfied with my dinner as this is healthy yet delicious and I won’t feel guilty after having it! Good choice. Hehe

Well, for hubby, he was not satisfied with his first meal which is a plate of Pad Thai serve with spicy chicken. After he finished the meal, he was still hungry so he went to hunt for more food. Few minutes later, he came back with a bowl of Curry Laksa.

So yeah, it is time for us to get into the boarding gate.
Last glance at Sydney airport!
3 days 2 nights Sydney trip finished! This was a fun trip and we really enjoy it a lot. The things that are most memorable would be the Bridge Climb. We really love it a lot! If you guys do not afraid of height, you should try it. It’s really worth to have a try! = )
