Auckland, New Zealand Day 2&3: Waitomo Glowworm Cave & Devonport’s twin Volcanoes

Continue from Auckland, New Zealand Day 1: Visit Sky Deck & Dinner Buffet

Our initial plan was Swim with the Dolphins with Dolphins & Whale watching cruise. Unfortunately the weather was so bad… it was raining and very windy so the tour operator cancelled the trip. Quite disappointing but we substituted with our trip to Devonport. =)

Mostly filled with sceneries pictures for this post... so yeah, hope you enjoy it! =)

#1 Waitomo Glowworm Cave
It was about 3 hours drive to Waitomo caves. A long journey to go…

We were nearly there… 8km to go! =D

The highlight of the cave – a boat ride under thousands of magical glowworms sparkling above the rock ceiling. It was amazing! Too bad, we were not allowed to take photo while inside the cave.

...but I can share with you the outside of the cave which is like this…

This is the boat that we ride inside the cave...

... and the cave.

Well, if you can visit here for more information.

#2 Devonport…

Travel time is only 15 minutes from the city by taking the ferry.

Inside the ferry

Ferry terminal @ Devonport

Devonport is a historical village. 2 famous places to visit are the North Head and Mt Victoria.

Some snapshots of North Head.

Our driver who drove us to visit those places.

Some snapshots of  Mt Victoria.

Visited the luxury chocolates handcrafted at Devonport Chocolates.

They all look so alluring and of course it’s quite pricey too.

We get ourselves a box of 14 pieces of chocolates that we can choose from the shelf.

Our final product. =)

Visit here for more chocolates details.

Headed back to the city…
and get myself a cup of gelato on the way back to the hotel.

While we were on the way back to hotel, we came across an arcade and found a Thai restaurant. Hence, we decided to have our dinner here.

#1 Combination Starters - Chicken satay, Spring roll, Curry puff, Prawn cake and Winter prawn (with bacon)

#2 Tomyam soup

#3 Ocean harmony – prawns, scallops, squid balls, mussels, fish and herbs with curry paste and chili

#4 Roasted duck curry with tomatoes, grapes, pineapples, lychees and vegetables.

#5 that's me! =D

Next up: Harbour cruise, 360 degrees sceneries view across Auckland city and it’s time to say Goodbye to Auckland
