Puffing Billy + Buffet Dinner

Puffing Billy was one of the “must go” places in my mind but we never taken any action to visit this place. Finally, we decided to visit Puffing Billy on Saturday.

There are 4 types of journey. We had chosen the “The Devonshire Journey” which included an afternoon tea in the first class carriage. It sounds “special”, right? :) If you wanna know more about this day trip, please click here.

Our journey started…

From Flinders Street, we catch a train to Belgrave which took about an hour. Our Puffing Billy journey was from Belgrave to Lakeside, with stopover at Emerald for 10 minutes and Lakeside for 45 minutes before returning to Belgrave.

Before boarding, we had snapped some photos outside the train. This is the first class carriage that we were going to be seated in. As you can see other carriage are just a normal without dining tables. There’s an advantage for the normal carriage though (you will know if you keep scrolling down! Hehe…)

Here’s our afternoon tea – Coffee with scones and jam, fresh cream and a savory pastry!

Can you legs out of the windows? Yeah, this is the advantage that I mentioned earlier. Fun, right? :)

Some nice views… feel so relaxing!

This is the last stop – Lakeside. We had 45 minutes to walk around before we departed back to Belgrave.

Checking on the engine!

Some people bring their own food and picnic beside the lake.

Some nice view again…

On the way back, I purposely seat beside one of the open windows so that I can take the photos of these views that I missed earlier. Can you see the wooden bridge? We were crossing over… a bit scary! :O

When we reached home it was only 6.30pm and just a nice time for dinner. Hubby suggested we go to Crown as there were a few newly opened restaurants and bars.

Well, there were quite a few nice ones but this one caught my attention. Is this one!!! The food look really... Nice!!! Delicious!!! Yummy!!!
We decided to try this… this is buffet style dinner. Okay, I’m gonna show you some nice goodies that we had.

Lindt chocolate café has just opened its first Melbourne café at Collins Street. Me and hubby went there to have lunch this afternoon as last weekend we went there and there was a long queue so we left.

Lindt has some light meals for lunch like sandwiches and rolls. We ordered some rolls and desserts. Overall, they were delicious but quite pricey too! :P

David Copperfield

Magic! The most popular magician in the world… We’ve been waiting for this show since 3 months ago. Yeah, we went to watch David Copperfield – An Intimate Evening of Grand Illusion at Rod Laver Arena.

Unfortunately, cameras are not allowed in this show so we didn’t capture any photo but I would like to share some amazing tricks that he presented last night. There were really amazing!

1st – The opening act. There was a big square EMPTY box on the stage. The box is closed, and then followed by some exciting music; out of a sudden “someone” on a motorcycle appeared in the box. Here he was… David Copperfield!

2nd – 2 huge bars were placed in the middle of the stage. 2 guys were selected from the audience to bend down and hug the bottom of the bars. A huge cloth then covered up the bars with the 2 audience inside. After a few seconds, the cloth was removed and a car was sitting on the 2 bars. Amazing!!!

Last but not least, “Travel to the other world” – A few audiences had been invited to the stage. There was a huge box filled with chairs on the stage. Audiences were seated in that box and then covered with a white cloth. Audiences were holding a torchlight and swing up and down so that we can know that there were inside. After a few seconds the cloth was taken away and the audience appeared on the other side of the stadium.

You gotta experience yourself then you will know how wonderful he is. It is worth to watch!!! = )
After the magic show, we went to a pub as hubby wanted to watch soccer there.

Cheers~ :P

Eating Out – Thai Restaurant

Craving for Tomyam soup! Friday evening after work, I decided to pamper myself so I skipped my fitness class. :P We stepped into this Thai restaurant – Sawasdee located in Little Burke Street.

The restaurant is mainly designed with timber and some nice lighting. There was a pianist playing piano at the corner. I reckon he played very well. = )

For Entrée, we ordered Poo Cha (I think it is the combination of crap meat and some potato as I forgot the ingredients stated in the menu) and Poh Peah (Spring Roll).
Our main courses are Tom Yam Goong (Tomyam Soup), Gaeng Keo Wahn (Beef Green Curry), Phat Sawadee (Stir Fried Spicy Fish) and Phat Si-Ew (Stir Fried Rice Noodle).

Overall, the food was yummy and the environment was nice too! The only problem was we had to wait for ages for the food to arrive. After the entrée, we waited for nearly 45 minutes for our main course… (>_<)
